Mermaid Junction with Nashville Special Guest: Jackie Straw

  • Dan Electros 1031 East 24th Street Houston, TX, 77009 United States (map)

Mermaid Junction

Sisters Mary Hammer and Betsy Lee, both from the Houston area, have been performing music since they were old enough to hold a microphone. Growing up in a family band, they have developed their own unique style while staying true to their musical roots. Classically and privately trained, their vocal and instrumental talents are sure to captivate audiences in any setting.
From the Heart of Texas to the Gulf of Mexico, these sisters have performed a mix of folk, Americana, and country-western songs, accompanied by their father, Greg English, and guest artists on bass and percussion.
Their passion and chemistry shine through in their tight sisterly harmonies, heartfelt lyrics, and diverse musical influences, which they now showcase in their project, Mermaid Junction.

Jackie Straw

Meet Jackie Straw! Starting in Denver's music scene with the all-girl band Pistols in Petticoats, Jackie later formed Jackie & The Racket, recording Goal Digger and Tough Luck Cowboy with top players at SwingFinger Studios in Colorado.

During the pandemic, Jackie relocated to Nashville, splitting her time between there and Denver, and rebranded as her most authentic self. She’s now working on a new record with Ken Coomer at Cartoon Moon Recording, blending psychedelic country with a fresh, genre-bending style inspired by Dolly Parton and Jerry Garcia.

Jackie continues to tour nationally, bringing sass and originality to her music. Recently, she collaborated with Dutch Records on singles Swamp Queen and June 16th. Keep an eye out for Jackie Straw!
