Tomar and the FCs + Astro Inn w DJ Pachuco Boogie Sound System

Headliner:

  • Tomas and the FCs

Special Guest:

  • DJ Pachuco Sound System

Tomar and the FCs

“Tomar Williams got his start singing lead on the Chitlin Circuit with his family band in the late 1980s. In 2015, after several decades as a music producer and side man, Tomar decided to return to his roots as a frontman. He was introduced to a local instrumental band, the FCs, and Tomar and the FCs was born.

Over the last decade, the band has earned a reputation as one of Austin's best live music bands with regular performances at iconic venues like the Continental Club, C-Boys, and Dan Electro's in Houston.

They have toured all over the country and have performed at ACL Music Festival, Old Settlers Music Festival, River Revival, SXSW, and Bonnaroo. Tomar and the FCs has three recordings: the EP Day by Day, and albums Heart Attack and Rise Above. Their highly anticipated new album, Soul Searching, will be released this February.”

Astro Inn

Astro Inn delivers seductive indie pop perfect for the after hours. Blending the swagger of The Strokes with the psychedelic textures of Glass Animals, their music is a heady cocktail of infectious melodies, driving rhythms, and a touch of the absurd. Drawing inspiration from the golden age of indie while pushing boundaries with a distinctly contemporary sound, Astro Inn delivers a sound that's as unpredictable as it is undeniably captivating.

Christina Renee & The RETROspective Dan Electros Debut

Headliner:

  • Christina Renee & The RETROspective

We aren't your average cover band. We are a diverse group of experienced musicians who have come from all over Houston to invest in this very special music project called The RETROspective. We are also artists, parents, teachers, non-profit leaders, retirees, chefs, members of other bands, church workers, advertising gurus, event planners, and survivors (how else could we sing the blues?) We know that music is medicine and we want The RETROspective to help people forget their troubles and enjoy the music. The RETROspective, is a soulful seven-piece band that plays nostalgic blues, classic rock, pop, soul, alt., and a little bit of country with harmonies and charm for days. We take well-known hits and do it from a different perspective. We might do a rock song as a jazz number or an old blues number with an alternative spin.

Oh Jeremiah and Sergio Trevino

Headliner:

  • Sergio Trevino

Special Guest:

  • Oh Jeremiah

Every story has a beginning and Oh Jeremiah’s begins in Mississippi. Not only did Jeremiah and Erin Stricklin meet and fall in love in the Magnolia State, but the two also formed the band inside the halls of their Alma Mater: University of Southern Mississippi. Jeremiah was born and raised in the Land of the Yellow Pines, a little further north in Laurel. It’s that very same town that inspired the band’s third album, Jones County Ghosts. Each song is a chapter in the life of a boy in a small Mississippi town; whether it be the civil war hero he grew up next to, the HGTV show that changed his home forever, or the alligator in his backyard his dad keeps referring to as his little brother.

The Broken Spokes & Oliver Penn
Jul

The Broken Spokes & Oliver Penn

Congratulations, you have just stumbled upon your next favorite country band.  The Broken Spokes are a beloved Texas traditional country outfit with a name synonymous with country due to the famous Austin honky tonk. Having focused on live shows, as opposed to aspiring for some sort of national attention, The Broken Spokes might just be the best band you’ve never heard of. They’re looking to change that with their new album Where I Went Wrong and the country music world, in Texas and beyond, is taking notice.

There’s magic in how they embrace the true roots of country music, interpreting them in the modern context with such love and passion that makes the music feel more palpable and alive than with most other country bands.  You can tell right away this is a well-seasoned outfit that’s put in the time honing their craft in honky tonks across Texas, perfectly illustrating the beauty of the music to the audience in a way that feels vital. The Broken Spokes are the textbook definition of what country music is in its purest form.

“This album is so damn good. If you needed to select a country music album to shoot into outer space to represent country music to other civilizations, Where I Went Wrong would not be a bad candidate. It’s that virtuous, that country, and truly flawless in its execution. Everything here is *chef kiss* excellent cover to cover.  If you need an audio representation of the textbook definition of what country music actually is in its purest form, Where I Went Wrong would totally work.  It’s a classic and traditional country album, but so dripping with present-day appeal from the passion brought to the music and the sincerity with which it’s delivered, it doesn’t feel dated at all. This album is beaming with enjoyment.”  Saving Country Music (Two Guns Up 9/10) (FULL REVIEW)

“There have been a number of releases this year that undoubtedly are worthy of the ‘hard-core country’ label accreditation. Houston’s The Broken Spokes are one such band and this album, WHERE I WENT WRONG, is testament to that. The album is a mix of classic honky tonk songs and tailored originals that recall BR5-49 or Red Meat at their best. Perhaps The Broken Spokes should consider the subtitle of the next album to be “Where We Went Right”, because this album is an affirmation of doing everything right.”   LonesomeHighway.com (FULL REVIEW)

“While there might have been a plethora of bands of this ilk 20 years ago, they would’ve found it hard to better this outfit. The Broken Spokes have the chops, knowledge, and the original tunes, but if anything, it’s the constant presence of the fiddle and steel in their makeup that ensures their honky tonk rises above.  Love’ em.”   Country Music People Magazine (5/5 Stars)

“There’s something transcendent about front man Brent McLennan’s clear tenor twang and off-handedly detailed songwriting approach riding atop the timeless honky-tonk chops of his bandmates.  It’s a bit like if Bruce Robison borrowed Wayne “The Train” Hancock’s band to rub some pilsner-soaked sawdust on his studied song craft”  Lone Star Music Magazine

Best Band For Drinking: The Broken Spokes are one of Houston’s busier country acts and the shows they play routinely have something in common – booze.  Whether they’re playing a honky tonk like Whiskey River, big festivals like the ZiegenBock Music Fest, or a dancehall like the one in Gruene, there is going to be some drinking involved. The Spokes gamely match the action in these establishments with the perfect soundtrack for beer guzzlin’ and whiskey shootin’.  These guys are all very gifted players who’ve previously pieced together a Houston Press – Album of the Year nominee and regularly draw kudos from fellow Houston music folks, like Nick Gaitan and Vinyl Ranch. They can call up a vibe to fit the mood and if the mood calls for a drink or two, they’re the band for the job.”  The Houston Press (ARTICLE)

The Point + Cazayoux

The Point + Cazayoux

Headliner:

  • Cazayoux

    Special Guest:

  • The Point

Cazayoux

In the heart of Austin, Texas, an ensemble known as CAZAYOUX emerges, weaving a tapestry of sound with unparalleled dedication and craftsmanship. Led by Forest Cazayoux, whose drumming resonated far beyond the confines of their local scenes, they've drawn together a mosaic of musicians from around the globe. Each member, with roots stretching to Guinea, Japan, Mexico, and across the United States, brings a rich narrative of cultural soundscapes to the collective.

Their music, a thoughtful amalgamation of psychedelic funk, afrobeat, and jazz, transcends ordinary classification. It’s as if each note is carefully extracted from a vast, eclectic palette, blending into a harmonious symphony that speaks to the soul.

Attending one of their performances is akin to participating in a communal experience, where every rhythm and melody invites introspection and collective joy. It’s a space where the audience and performers unite in a mutual celebration of sound’s ability to transcend boundaries.

The Point

The Point was formed in 2017 in Austin, Texas by childhood friends Jack Montesinos on guitar, Joe Roddy on keyboards and Italian drummer Alberto Telo. Originating from deep roots in hip-hop production, Jack and Joe evolved into accomplished multi-instrumentalists and live performance became the focus of their music. The band quickly earned a residency at the venerable C-Boy’s Heart and Soul, where they explored a bastardized, “jammy” approach to live music to ever-growing, appreciative audiences.

During the isolated, immersive days of the pandemic, the band soaked up increasingly diverse musical influences ranging from Peruvian cumbia, Thai mor lam, Anatolian rock, and Saharan blues. In 2023, they incorporated Austin drummer and producer, Nico Léophonte, who produced the band’s debut EP, Berto’s Banquet. Along with his recording expertise, Nico, a native of southern France, brought the pan-African rhythms to the band he was exposed to by his Congolese mother.

The music of The Point channels their beloved mélange of influences into one big jam with Texas Blues underpinning the whole, lovely mess.

After meeting Beto Martinez (Grupo Fantasma, Money Chicha, Caremelo Haze), the group knew he was the right person to record and co-produce their first LP, MALDITIO ANIMAL, inspired by Nico’s mule Toksha who is featured on the album’s artwork. The album begins with a cover of Ethiopian jazz organ and accordion legend Hailu Mergia’s “Wede Harer Guzo” and then launches into the band’s original dub-soul single “Mrs. Kind Eyes.” The album continues its eclectic journey with the J-Dilla-esque “Tranquil Lom,” and the single “Leaving” which is a hopeful and mournful dedication to Ethio-jazz and Chicano soul.

The three members have shared the stage and recorded with artists like The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Gary Clark Jr., Kool Keith, Lil Keke, Lil Flip, Jimmie Vaughan, James Burton, Los Lobos, The Greyhounds, The Mellows, The Tailgators, Sentimental Family Band, Cactus Lee, The Black Pumas, Charley Crockett and countless others.”

Whiskey Wednesday & Steak Night with music by Old Pup with Special Guest Matt Harlan

Headliner:

  • Old Pup

Special Guest:

  • Matt Harlan

Old Pup is a warmly haunted folk outfit led by Milwaukee-based pedal steel player/songwriter, Will Hansen, who writes lyrically vivid & (at-times experimental) country-tinged songs that weave the interstellar with the everyday. Hansen tours regularly, playing his own songs & accompanying other artists on the “sad machine.” Old Pup’s sophomore record, Spider Towns, releases independently on February 28 & features intimate & ethereal recordings captured in living rooms, warehouse hallways, & wide-open fields spanning Milwaukee WI, New Orleans LA, & Truth or Consequences NM. Hansen’s lyrical dexterity is at the forefront of this latest creation. Put aptly by songwriter Chris Acker, “Old Pup is Rosetta-stoned.” Vinyl copies of the new record will be available at shows during the release tour (February 13-March 1).

Mermaid Junction with Nashville Special Guest: Jackie Straw

Mermaid Junction

Sisters Mary Hammer and Betsy Lee, both from the Houston area, have been performing music since they were old enough to hold a microphone. Growing up in a family band, they have developed their own unique style while staying true to their musical roots. Classically and privately trained, their vocal and instrumental talents are sure to captivate audiences in any setting.
From the Heart of Texas to the Gulf of Mexico, these sisters have performed a mix of folk, Americana, and country-western songs, accompanied by their father, Greg English, and guest artists on bass and percussion.
Their passion and chemistry shine through in their tight sisterly harmonies, heartfelt lyrics, and diverse musical influences, which they now showcase in their project, Mermaid Junction.

Jackie Straw

Meet Jackie Straw! Starting in Denver's music scene with the all-girl band Pistols in Petticoats, Jackie later formed Jackie & The Racket, recording Goal Digger and Tough Luck Cowboy with top players at SwingFinger Studios in Colorado.

During the pandemic, Jackie relocated to Nashville, splitting her time between there and Denver, and rebranded as her most authentic self. She’s now working on a new record with Ken Coomer at Cartoon Moon Recording, blending psychedelic country with a fresh, genre-bending style inspired by Dolly Parton and Jerry Garcia.

Jackie continues to tour nationally, bringing sass and originality to her music. Recently, she collaborated with Dutch Records on singles Swamp Queen and June 16th. Keep an eye out for Jackie Straw!

Scott Strickland Trio w/ special guest Hudson Mueller

Scott Strickland Trio w/ special guest Hudson Mueller

Scott Strickland is an Austin-based musician whose journey to music has been as unconventional as it is inspiring. Originally from Houston, Texas, with roots tracing back to Nacogdoches, Scott's life took a transformative turn when he became a full-time musician in Austin, Texas during the pandemic. Having spent years teaching filmmaking at colleges from Waco to San Antonio and working in retail, this transition to full-time musicianship was marked by resilience, creativity, and a renewed spiritual connection. He is recognized as an incredible live performer while regularly releasing great music. With a sound steeped in raw authenticity, Scott's music reflects a blend of rock, pop, and folk, enriched by introspection and honesty. The title track, "L.A.," from his debut album was lauded by Austin-American Statesman writer Peter Blackstock as "the best video, and song, to come out of Austin" in early 2022. Through his latest project Strings Attached: The 1500 Sessions, recorded at the 1500 Distribution Hall, Scott showcases his dedication to music that connects deeply with the soul, featuring lush acoustic string arrangements and a heartfelt approach. Scott's work is a testament to the power of perseverance, sincerity, and the belief in creating art that resonates beyond trends, capturing timeless themes of vulnerability and resilience. Hudson Mueller has always been something of an outlaw philosopher. Like his spirit guide Willie Nelson, he follows his musical instincts wherever they lead even when those paths aren't particularly convenient or commercially strategic. On his stunning debut solo album Welcome to Earth, Mueller delivers a collection of songs that showcase his gifts as a storyteller while expanding the sonic possibilities of the Americana genre.
