Old Pup is a warmly haunted folk outfit led by Milwaukee-based pedal steel player/songwriter, Will Hansen, who writes lyrically vivid & (at-times experimental) country-tinged songs that weave the interstellar with the everyday. Hansen tours regularly, playing his own songs & accompanying other artists on the “sad machine.” Old Pup’s sophomore record, Spider Towns, releases independently on February 28 & features intimate & ethereal recordings captured in living rooms, warehouse hallways, & wide-open fields spanning Milwaukee WI, New Orleans LA, & Truth or Consequences NM. Hansen’s lyrical dexterity is at the forefront of this latest creation. Put aptly by songwriter Chris Acker, “Old Pup is Rosetta-stoned.” Vinyl copies of the new record will be available at shows during the release tour (February 13-March 1).
